Vermont’s main features include the Green Mountains and Lake Champlain. Vermont is also known for their “mud season” in the spring. The summers in Vermont are mild and make great lake weather while the autumns are gorgeous whereas the winters are very cold. Vermont is one of the few states that consistently brands itself. The state has been increasingly branding itself through the sale of artisan foods, fancy foods and novelty items that have the Vermont brand. Other specialty items being exported by the state include Cabot Cheese, the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, Vermont Butter and Cheese Company, several microbreweries, ginseng growers, Burton Snowboards, Lake Champlain Chocolates, King Arthur Flour, and Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. The Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets have the highest dairy standards in the US and compare to that of France. Dairy farming is the main agricultural income in the state.
Outdoor activities in Vermont include trout fishing, lake fishing and even ice fishing. The Long Trail also draws a large crowd of hiking enthusiasts. Vermont also holds several horse shows and annual events. Golf courses and spas are also becoming increasingly popular.
